The aim of the IFU Pre-School Teaching program is to train qualified preschool teachers who can follow up-to-date studies and have the skills and equipment to respond to the needs of the age.

The competencies (learning outcomes) that should be acquired by the graduates of IFU Faculty of Educational Science, Pre-School Teaching Program can be listed as follows:

1. Evaluates the structure and functioning of the Turkish and TRNC education systems, including their relations with the pre-school field. S/he acts in accordance with the requirements of the laws, regulations and other documents regarding the roles, duties and responsibilities imposed by the systems in question.
2. Uses the concepts and terms of pre-school education correctly and associates them with professional practices.
3. Is aware that children in pre-school education process may have individual development differences and difficulties. He/she resolves these differences and difficulties; demonstrates the knowledge and skills to implement practices that will support children both at school and at home.
4. Uses the field knowledge and experience acquired in education and training activities; establishes connections between the pre-school field and other disciplines.
5. Knows to evaluate the physical, psychological, social and cultural needs of children in pre-school education process and their families. In order to respond to these needs, he/she makes use of the opportunities available both within and outside the school system.
6. Works alone or as a team member in the processes of assessment, application, problem solving and determining the needs of the student in pre-school field.
7. Is aware of current scientific research and technological developments in his/her field and makes use of them in their applications.
8. Strives for continuous improvement and uses the knowledge and experience gained in the field of pre-school teaching to achieve future career goals.
9. Uses written and spoken native language effectively; uses a second language at a level to follow international literature in his/her field and communicate with colleagues.
10. Develops a positive attitude towards lifelong learning, change, innovation, creativity, critical thinking and questioning.
11. Includes artistic, sportive and cultural activities in the education program in line with the student needs.
12. Develops social responsibility awareness. With this awareness, he/she becomes sensitive and contributes to the institution where he/she works and the environment he/she lives in.
13. Is sensitive to cultural differences and the diversity of social groups. He/she takes an active part in social life.
14. With the awareness of children's rights and human rights, and by acting in accordance with ethical values in all kinds of studies, he/she establishes personal and institutional interaction in order to develop and maintain a safe school and living environment.
15. Uses information production and analysis methods and necessary tools and equipment effectively in activity areas such as education, application and research.
