Legal and Psychological Dimensions of Child Neglect and Abuse” Seminar Held in Cooperation with FIU “Like a Child” Club and UCIM

Final International University (FIU) “Like a Child” Club, in collaboration with UCIM (Saadet Teacher Association for Combating Child Abuse), successfully organized a seminar titled “Legal and Psychological Dimensions of Child Neglect and Abuse.” The event, which saw wide participation, served as a significant platform to raise awareness about children’s rights, protection mechanisms, and the steps to be taken in cases of abuse.

During the seminar, UCIM Izmir Legal Coordinator Lawyer Rüveyda Şule Öztürk and UCIM Turkey Rehabilitation Coordinator Clinical Psychologist Burak Emre Kadak shared valuable insights from their respective fields. Lawyer Öztürk delivered a detailed presentation on legal regulations aimed at protecting the best interests of children and the legal processes involved in neglect and abuse cases. She emphasized the importance of raising societal awareness about safeguarding children’s rights.

Clinical Psychologist Kadak provided comprehensive information on the psychological effects of abuse on children and how to manage these effects. He highlighted the importance of psycho-social support mechanisms for children who have experienced trauma and discussed the positive impact of rehabilitation processes on their recovery.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and gain deeper insights into the topic. The seminar was regarded as a crucial step toward increasing awareness about children’s rights.
