Community awareness trainings came to an end in Kumyalı!

The community awareness trainings, organized in collaboration with the Final International University Family and Women Research Studies Center, Mehmetçik Büyükkonuk Municipality, and Turkish Cypriot Entrepreneurial Women’s Association (GIKAD), concluded with a final event held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Kumyalı Village Square.

This week’s session focused on “Healthy Aging and Physical Activity.”

Prof. Dr. Hayriye Deniz Şelimen, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Final International University, delivered a comprehensive speech on the aging process. She emphasized that healthy aging begins early in life and highlighted the importance of nutrition, hydration, brain health, physical activity, and social engagement. Şelimen also discussed how prenatal nutrition, genetic predispositions, and conscious lifestyle choices impact long-term well-being. Additionally, she warned against unnecessary medication and chemical exposure while stressing the psychological benefits of having a meaningful life purpose.

Following her speech, Lecturer Ali Fahir Öksüzoğlu from Final International University shared insights on the benefits of exercise for healthy aging. He demonstrated simple, home-friendly workouts and explained how regular physical activity enhances both physical and mental health.

With this final event in Kumyalı, the first phase of the training series has successfully ended. However, these awareness-raising efforts will continue, expanding to new regions with fresh topics and expert speakers to engage broader audiences.
