The “Strong Women and Society Workshop” was organized by the Family and Women Research and Application Center of Final International University, in cooperation with Kyrenia Municipality and with the contributions of the Turkish Cypriot Women Entrepreneurs Association (GİKAD), on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Kyrenia Municipality Art Gallery.

The workshop, which focused on women’s role in social life, empowerment processes, and social solidarity, was held between 09:30 and 16:00 with strong participation. Bringing together academic perspectives and field experiences, the event aimed to contribute to the empowerment of women in social, cultural, and academic spheres.

The opening speeches were delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Merve Uysal, Director of the Family and Women Research and Application Center at Final International University; Naile Soyer, Deputy Director of Kyrenia Municipality; and Prof. Dr. Orhan Gemikonaklı, Rector of Final International University. In their speeches, the speakers emphasized the importance of strengthening women’s role in social development, transforming academic studies into social benefit, and enhancing inter-institutional cooperation.

During the workshop, which brought together academics and representatives of partner institutions who are experts in their fields, various topics were discussed including women-focused academic research, field experiences, and initiatives aimed at increasing social awareness. Participants also had the opportunity to share their views and experiences, while recommendations and evaluations were presented to support the strengthening of women’s role in society.

With the academic contribution of Final International University, the workshop provided an important platform for raising awareness about women’s empowerment and fostering cooperation among institutions.
