A design competition titled “Desdemona’s Handkerchief Design” was organized by Famagusta Municipality. The award ceremony was held on April 20, 2026, at Othello Castle Park, where the winning designs were presented to the public.

A design proposal submitted by Kamiar Yazdani, an academic at the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts at Final International University, was awarded second prize in the competition.

As part of the event, the awarded designs were also presented to the Mayor of Famagusta, Dr. Süleyman Uluçay, at the Municipality Building on April 28, 2026.

The selected designs are planned to be developed and produced as tourism products that reflect Famagusta’s cultural narrative through contemporary design.
