The learning outcomes of our English language program for English medium degree programs have been designed within the framework provided by the Final International University Institutional Learning Outcomes, and the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education in Turkey, level 6 (http://tyyc.yok.gov.tr/?pid=33), which parallels Level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF), and the first cycle of the Qualifications Framework of the European Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA 1.Cycle).
The program is thus grounded within both local and international specifications. We have also adopted as specific benchmarks for our program:
Our program thus aims to provide our students with a language education that is internationally validated and of the highest possible quality.
In specific, the FIU English language curriculum aims to ensure that by the time students complete their formal sequence of required English language courses, they will have:

Shown the ability to respond critically by producing written work and presentations that are based on evidence, reason, argument, and creative response. |

Presented and discussed key academic and professional concepts in their field. |

Prepared both independent and collaborative reports in English on topics related both to general and specific subject area topics. |

Displayed the willingness to collaborate with others through the medium of English, and show awareness of cultural diversity through assigned work and presentations. |
SFL06 |
Prepared individual and group-based self-assessment reports showing the ability to evaluate strengths and weaknesses in language competences, and plan for future studies. |

Gained sufficient linguistic and study skills competence to enable progression into further English medium studies. |
SFL08 |
Produced written work and presentations that conform to standard academic ethics and show awareness of civic and environmental issues. |
SFL09 |
Through participation in and out of classes shown the ability to communicate in English with potential colleagues and clients in a professional environment. |

Used computer applications to produce professionally formatted work in English and demonstrated the skills to use computers as an ongoing language development tool. |
